About

About Richard Steel

I am an experienced practitioner in capability and improvement with over 30 years of involvement in Lean, operational improvement, and organisational development across industry, services, and public sector environments.

My career includes early engagement in the application of Lean thinking and long-standing connections within the wider improvement and enterprise excellence community. Over time, my approach has matured beyond methodology and tools to focus more deeply on capability development, workforce performance, and practical, sustainable improvement in real operational settings.

I now work primarily in a collaborative capacity, supporting organisations, training providers, and industry initiatives where experienced practitioner input is required to strengthen delivery, support capability development, and embed effective ways of working.

This includes contributing to programmes, partnerships, and improvement initiatives alongside trusted organisations, rather than operating as a traditional high-intensity consultancy model.

My philosophy remains consistent:
Achieving results by developing people and embedding improvements that genuinely last.
